Campaign
Campaign in the top bar takes you through practice problems in order, one chapter at a time, from a first LED to small machines. It's the best place to start if you're new: each chapter builds on the one before.
Chapters
| # | Chapter | What you learn |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | First light | One LED, then a few: timing, rhythm and the wiring every build starts with. |
| 2 | Dimmers and colour | PWM: brightness levels, slow fades and mixing colours on an RGB LED. |
| 3 | Press the button | Reading people: pull-ups, latches, timing and telling a tap from a hold. |
| 4 | Sensing the world | Temperature, motion, distance and light, and acting on what they say. |
| 5 | Show it | LCDs, seven-segment digits and NeoPixels: numbers, words and colour on display. |
| 6 | Make it move | Servos, buzzers and relays: motion, sound and switching real loads. |
| 7 | Talking to chips | I²C, 1-Wire and serial: reading sensors that speak a protocol. |
| 8 | Small machines | Several parts working together: little devices you could build for real. |
Each chapter has six levels. Chapter 1 is open from the start; finishing every level of a chapter opens the next. The Continue button at the top of the page always takes you to your next unsolved level.
Stars
Every level has three stars:
- ★ Solve it: the level's tests pass.
- ★ Par cost: a passing build that costs no more than par, our reference build's bill.
- ★ Par time: solve it within par time (15 minutes for an easy level, 30 for a medium one).
Each level shows its par, for example "Par $1.25 · 15 min". The time counts only while the level is open on screen in this browser, and adds up across visits. Your best cost and your best time are kept, so you can come back later for a missing star: rebuild it cheaper for the cost star.
Playing a level
A level is an ordinary practice problem: same workspace, same task, same Run tests. Next to the title you'll see where it sits in the campaign (for example Campaign 2.3) and its stars. Once it's solved, Next level → takes you on. Nothing in the campaign is timed against other people or ranked; stars are just for you.
