Practice
Practice in the top bar is where you train between contests. Nothing there is timed or ranked: there's no clock, no Submit and no penalties. You can run the tests as often as you like, and share a build with the community when you're happy with it.
New here? The campaign takes you through 48 of these problems in order, as chapters of levels with stars to earn.
The practice sets
166 problems written for practice, grouped by topic. Each set runs from easy to hard:
| Set | What it covers |
|---|---|
| LEDs & PWM | Blinking, fading, patterns and colour: the outputs everything else builds on. |
| Buttons & input | Buttons, switches, keypads and encoders: reading people, debouncing, counting and state. |
| Sensors | Light, temperature, distance, motion, sound and moisture: reading the world and acting on thresholds. |
| Displays | Character LCDs, OLEDs, 7-segment digits and LED strips: showing numbers, text and patterns. |
| Motors & actuators | Servos, DC motors, steppers, relays and buzzers: making things move and make noise. |
| I²C, SPI, UART & 1-Wire | Talking to chips: ADCs, IMUs, GPS and temperature probes over their buses. |
| Projects | Several parts working together: small, complete devices. |
They are open from day one and are never used as a daily challenge, so practising them never spoils a contest. Filter by difficulty or by set at the top of the page.
Past dailies
Every daily challenge also joins Practice the day after it runs, together with a link to that day's leaderboard. From there, each row's View build opens the winning builds. See past solutions.
Working on a problem
A practice problem opens in the same workspace as the contest. The task, the shop and the Run tests button are there, and the budget still applies. Your files are saved in this browser as you type, so you can leave a problem and come back to it later. See the workspace tour.
